Sudanese Army Regains Control of Ambro, Kernawi, and Abu Gamra West of El-Fashir

Brigadier General Yazid Rushash, a commander in the Joint Forces, confirmed that the forces had successfully defeated the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and expelled them from Ambro, Kernawi, and Abu Gamra—areas that had been overrun in recent days.

In an interview with Al-Tara Sudan, he stated that these areas had been free of any armed forces and were inhabited solely by unarmed civilians. He added that the militia had entered with the intent to kill, terrorize residents, and loot their property.

Brig. Gen. Rushash emphasized that the joint forces assumed full responsibility for protecting Sudanese citizens, confronting the attacking forces in several intense battles, defeating them, and expelling them entirely from these areas. He affirmed that “Ambro, Kernawi, and Abu Gamra are completely liberated and free of the militia and mercenaries.”

He stressed that “the joint forces remain committed to their promises to defend the Sudanese people and land against the terrorist Al-Dagalo militia and its affiliates,” according to his statement.

The militia had announced on Wednesday, December 24, that it had taken control of the Ambro locality in North Darfur.

A source within the joint forces told Al-Tara Sudan that the militia suffered a major defeat, with several combat vehicles and their equipment destroyed and a number of fighters killed. The source confirmed that the joint forces and the Sudanese army continue to expel the RSF from areas where they had previously committed violations against civilians in North Darfur.

The source also noted that the army’s drones targeted the withdrawing forces, inflicting significant losses.
