Sudanese Armed Forces Confirm Containment of Ammunition Depot Explosion
Khartoum (Sudanese Echoes) – The General Command of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) issued a clarification statement on Saturday evening regarding explosions heard near a military facility, confirming that the situation had been fully contained and the site secured.
In the statement, the SAF spokesperson explained that an explosion occurred on Saturday afternoon at one of the ammunition depots belonging to the Ordnance and Ammunition Corps. The initial blast was followed by a series of limited explosions caused by friction between some of the munitions inside the depot.
The Armed Forces reassured citizens that the relevant authorities, firefighting teams, and security personnel had successfully brought the situation fully under control. They established a security cordon around the area to protect surrounding property and ensure the safety of lives, without indicating any casualties.
