Sudan: Inflation Rate Records Slight Increase in August

 

The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) announced on Sunday that the inflation rate in August 2025 rose to 81% compared to 78.39% in the previous month.

 

 

In past years, the inflation rate had witnessed continuous escalation, reaching 422% in July 2021, before gradually declining until it reached double digits in July 2025.

 

 

In a statement, the CBS said that the rate of change in the general price level — inflation — in August 2025 increased by 81.61% compared to its level in the previous year.

 

 

It explained that the inflation rate in urban areas during August reached 83.93%, compared to 80.20% recorded in July 2025.

 

 

It further noted that in rural areas, the inflation rate in August stood at 83.51%, up from 77.53% recorded in the previous month.
