Sudan Army Begins Withdrawing Its Forces from Some Areas in Khartoum
The armed forces have officially begun implementing a military plan aimed at withdrawing its units from residential areas within the capital city of Khartoum.
This move comes in response to directives from President of the Transitional Sovereign Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, who ordered the evacuation of the city from all military formations and armed entities within two weeks.
This step is part of the efforts of the High Committee to prepare the environment for the return of citizens, aiming to restore security and stability and create suitable conditions for the return of residents to their areas affected by the war.
The army’s headquarters are spread across vital sites in central Khartoum, including the General Command of the Armed Forces extending from near Khartoum Airport to Al-Suk-al-Arabi, the Armored Corps in Al-Shajara area south of the capital, the Ammunition Unit between Al-Shajara and Lamab areas, the Engineering Corps on Nile Street in Omdurman, and the Paratroopers in the Bahri area.
The transfer of forces has actually begun to sites outside residential areas, including north of Bahri, in a step expected to contribute to alleviating human suffering and facilitating the return of citizens.”
