Sudan and UK Hold Military and Security Talks in Port Sudan

Sudanese-British discussions concluded in Port Sudan, with both sides emphasizing the importance of maintaining constructive dialogue and exchanging visits between the political, economic, and security institutions of the two countries.

 

On Monday, the Sudanese government received a British delegation headed by the UK’s Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Middle East and North Africa, and including the UK envoy to the Horn of Africa, as part of efforts to engage with Sudan on key issues, primarily achieving security and stability in the country, as well as reviewing bilateral relations and ways to enhance them.

 

The British delegation held a series of pre-arranged meetings with Sudan’s Intelligence Chief, the Foreign Minister, and the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC).

 

As part of Sudan’s vision for achieving peace, the government delegation, which included representatives from the Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs, participated in an extended bilateral session with the British side.

 

 

The Sudanese team provided a detailed overview of the war’s outbreak, the militia insurgency, and the violations committed against civilians.

 

 

They also explained Sudan’s position and response to international initiatives aimed at achieving peace, affirming that the government remains open to all initiatives that meet the aspirations of the Sudanese people while respecting the country’s sovereignty and resources.

 

The Sudanese delegation also listened attentively to the British government’s position and vision for achieving peace in the region.
