South Sudan White Army approaches taking control of Malakal

The White Army took control of the city of Atar after fierce fighting broke out early Saturday morning in the city, located in South Sudan’s Upper Nile State. This capture represents the latest in a series of territorial gains by the White Army, which now controls Atar, Khorfulus, Obiel, Doleib, and Urjok.
Field sources indicate that Malakal is on the verge of falling, with reports of violent clashes in and around the city, amid heavy losses among the forces loyal to South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
