RSF Militia Arrests Employee of International Organization on Espionage Charges
A humanitarian worker reported that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia has arrested a Sudanese employee working with the Spanish branch of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) on charges of spying for the Sudanese Armed Forces.
The arrest came following drone strikes by the Sudanese army that targeted the General Secretariat of the West Darfur State Government in El-Geneina, as well as the vehicle of the head of the Civil Administration, Tijani Al-Tahir Karshom, resulting in the death of three of his guards.
According to sources, a voice message attributed to the detained employee was circulated on social media, in which he reportedly spoke about drone attacks on El-Geneina, as well as on the towns of Saraf Omra and Al-Zurq, which led to the injury of the head of the Civil Administration in West Darfur State.
The sources added that the militia detained the employee last week, and that the authorities are conducting extensive investigations with him over allegations of collaborating with senior figures in the Sudanese army. They also noted that the detainee had previously served as a soldier in the Sudanese Armed Forces before joining the humanitarian organization, which reportedly prompted the authorities’ interest in questioning him.
