Resumption of Commercial Flights to Khartoum International Airport
Badr Airlines has announced the resumption of its commercial flights to Khartoum International Airport in Sudan starting January 5, 2026, with a flight departing from Port Sudan Airport. This will mark the first regular flights after a long suspension due to security conditions. The airline set ticket prices at $220 for economy class and $275 for business class, reflecting a gradual restoration of confidence in the airport’s ability to handle air traffic.
The announcement signals an improvement in the security situation surrounding the airport and represents a glimmer of hope for citizens and the economic sector, especially given Sudan’s urgent need to revive air and commercial transport, according to the Sudanese news site Al-Mashhad.
Meanwhile, Oman’s Salam Air has added Port Sudan International Airport to its new destinations on its booking system, with direct flights to and from Muscat International Airport starting January 27, 2026.
By including Port Sudan in its network, Salam Air becomes the third international airline to launch flights to the coastal city, providing a significant boost to Sudan’s aviation sector and enhancing travel and tourism between Sudan and the Sultanate of Oman.
