Rescue of 15 Citizens and Two Missing in Boat Capsize and Sinking in Wadi Halfa, Sudan
The Wadi Halfa area in Northern State witnessed a tragic boat sinking incident early Monday, after a boat traveling from Arqin to the eastern bank via Lake Nubia capsized, resulting in the rescue of 15 citizens while two remain missing.
The ill-fated boat was carrying a group of citizens on a routine crossing when it was suddenly destabilized in the middle of the lake, causing it to sink.
Local sources indicated that strong winds and high waves were among the main factors contributing to the capsizing of the boat.
Civil defense forces and local teams rushed to the scene and managed to rescue most of the passengers, while search operations continue to locate the missing individuals.
Sources noted that the rescue teams face challenges due to limited capabilities and a shortage of specialized equipment for such conditions.
