Quintet calls for inclusive Sudanese dialogue ahead of Berlin Conference

A five-party group comprising the African Union, IGAD, League of Arab States, European Union, and the United Nations reaffirmed support for an inclusive Sudanese-led political dialogue to end the war.

In a statement ahead of the Berlin conference on April 15, the group warned of worsening humanitarian conditions and risks of state fragmentation, calling for de-escalation, civilian protection, and unhindered humanitarian access.

It stressed respect for Sudan’s sovereignty and rejected attempts to impose parallel governance structures, urging all parties to engage constructively in efforts toward a lasting political settlement.
