“Quartet” Meeting in Washington to Push for an Immediate Humanitarian Truce and a Permanent Ceasefire in Sudan
Washington – The Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for Arab and African Affairs, Massad Boulos, announced that the United States hosted in Washington a meeting of representatives of the Quartet Committee on Sudan, which includes Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In a post on the “X” platform, Boulos said the meeting aimed to “advance collective efforts toward peace and stability in Sudan, including working to secure an immediate humanitarian truce, achieve a permanent ceasefire, halt external support, and move forward toward a transition to civilian governance.”
He added that members of the Quartet “reaffirmed their commitment to the ministerial statement issued on 12 September and agreed to establish a joint committee to enhance coordination on urgent priorities.”
Boulos further stated that U.S. President Donald Trump “wants peace, and we are united in our commitment to ending the suffering of the Sudanese people.”
