Prisoners tell Sudanese Echoes horrific stories about the “Death Prison”

A number of prisoners recently freed by the army from various Rapid Support Forces (RSF) detention centers in Khartoum revealed horrific practices committed by the rebel militia against civilian prisoners detained there, particularly in Soba Prison, which they dubbed the “Death Prison” due to the horrific crimes committed there by the militia against detainees.

One of the freed prisoners told Sudanese Echoes via phone from a state capital that he was being held in a detention center in Al-Riyadh neighborhood of Khartoum on charges of spying for the army.

He noted that the prisoners were crammed 10-15 into a 3×3-meter cell and given handfuls of spoiled flour mixed with contaminated water, which caused a large number of them to become food poisoned. (See the investigation on page 6.)
