Plans to Establish an Authority to Combat Epidemics and Diseases in Sudan
The Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Lamia Abdel-Ghaffar, has directed the provision of essential medicines through the National Medical Supplies Fund to ensure citizens’ easy access to their medical needs.
Minister of Health, Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, briefed the Minister with a comprehensive update on the country’s health situation and the performance of health facilities, in addition to presenting the ministry’s plan for health sector reform in cooperation with the World Health Organization during the reconstruction phase.
For her part, Lamia stressed the importance of aligning the reform plan with the state’s health strategy for the next three years.
She further noted the agreement to establish an authority comprising relevant institutions to combat the spread of epidemics and diseases in several states, while working to provide the necessary financial support for its operations.
The Minister of Cabinet Affairs commended the efforts of health workers during the war and their sacrifices in serving the citizens.
