Parallel Government Curse Hits National Umma Party

The National Umma Party (NUP) is at a dangerous crossroads after the party’s presidency withdrew confidence from the party’s acting leader, Fadlallah Burmah Nassir, for signing a charter to form a government affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. While 13 states supported Burmah Nassir’s dismissal, the dismissed party leader took the initiative to dissolve the presidency, stressing that his dismissal was illegal.
Burma said, in a circular, that he is the party’s leader until the general conference is held, ending the assignment of his deputies and advisors who dismissed him. He said that he will reform the party’s presidency on new foundations, revealing that he is consulting with the head of the political bureau and the general secretariat to call for an extraordinary general conference for the party. In contrast, 13 of the party’s leaderships in the states announced their support for the removal of Burmah Nassir and said that the overthrow of Burmah restored the prestige of the National Umma Party.
A statement signed by the party’s leaderships in the states accused Burmah Nassir of harming the party’s reputation, violating his assignment order, and monopolizing decisions. The statement said that the NUP deviated and went off the right path during Burmah’s era, indicating that the party had become an affiliate of parties that had no history and no presence on the ground instead of being a leader and guide for the political arena.
The party’s leaderships in the states announced their rejection of siding with (Tagadum or Sumoud), and demanded that any member who joined the rebel militia be held accountable.
