Osman Mirghani: US envoy is convinced that RSF militia will not be part of any future government in Sudan
Interview: Musab Mahmoud
Political analyst and journalist Osman Mirghani revealed new information about his meeting with the leader of the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Militia, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, a few weeks before the war, while denying any contact with the Taggadom Alliance.
Meeting with Hemeidti
Mirghani said, in an interview with the (Sudanese Echoes) platform – transmitted on YouTube – that the meeting with Hemeidti took place at the latter’s request following an article he wrote in which he called for the immediate integration of the Rapid Support Forces into the army. He pointed out that the meeting was arranged by his office director and held at Hemeidti’s home in the airport neighborhood and lasted for more than two hours. Osman confirmed that Hemeidti confided in him that there was a dispute between him and the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) that prevented him from attending the TSC meetings.
Mirghani denied that Hemeidti had spoken to him about his intention to carry out a coup – as some have promoted. Osman was surprised by the talk attributed to him about Hemeidti’s intention to form the government after the coup and that he had chosen him as a minister in that government, denying that he had received an offer from Hemeidti to give him a pick up vehcle “box”.
Sudanese army is decisively victorious
Meanwhile, Mirghani underlined that the army on the ground is decisively victorious, asserting that the end of the battle will be in favor of the army 100%, “There is no hope that the Rapid Support Forces will win by all logical standards,” he said.
He was surprised by the talk about supporting the army or not, saying that the army belongs to the entire state, “We support the army, and if you are a citizen or a follower, you will support the army, and if you open the hearts of the people who attack the army, you will receive their hearts with the army,” he continued. He added, “The army belongs to the entire state, there is no choice to be with it or against it.”
American envoy supports legitimacy in Sudan
With respect to his meeting with the American envoy Tom Perriello, Osman confirmed that the Americans have great interests in Sudan. He accused the Sudanese authorities of creating problems with people by claiming that the envoy is working against Sudan. Mirghani affirmed that the envoy is working for the benefit of Sudan and is convinced that the Rapid Support Forces militia will not be part of any future action and that negotiations with it are about how to exit.
