Official Spokesperson of Sudan Government: No decision to shift the administrative capital from Portsudan to Atbara

Minister of Culture and Information and Government Official Spokesman Dr. Graham Abdel-Gadir denied the existence of any directive or decision to move the administrative capital from Portsudan, Red Sea State to Atbara, River Nile State.
The government Spokesperson said, in a statement to the media he read on Monday at the ministry’s regular forum, “Social media platforms have circulated news that the administrative capital will be shifted from Portsudan to Atbara,” stressing that this news is baseless.
He added, “No decision or directive has been issued by the relevant authorities in this concern, and accordingly we deny the news,” explaining that many ministries were previously distributed to perform their duties from the states related to the nature of their work, adding that these ministries are currently running their duties from the states.
