Official denies radiation leak from Al-Dharra Hospital in central Khartoum

The Director of the National Cancer Center, Dafallah Abu Idris denied on Sunday that a radiation leak had occurred from the Khartoum Oncology Hospital (Al-Dharra), located in the center of the capital.

A radiation leak from Al-Dharra Hospital, which claimed the lives of dozens of Rapid Support Forces (RSF) elements, has been circulating on social media. Warnings have been issued to avoid areas near the facility, claiming that the leak still poses a danger.

Dafallah Abu Idris said, in a statement received by Sudan Tribune that, “there has been no radiation leak from the Oncology Hospital after its liberation.”

Dr. Abu Idris indicated that the National Cancer Center confirmed the absence of a radiation leak after a thorough examination, inspection, and evaluation by specialized technical teams responsible for the radiotherapy equipment that arrived at the hospital.
