Nyala Janjaweed demonstrate and barricade the streets… Al-Dagalo responds with live ammunition

Massive demonstrations erupted in the heart of Nyala city, with amputees and Janjaweed wounded barricading the streets.

Military police forces intervened and opened fire on the demonstrators, killing several and wounding dozens.

The demonstrations came against the backdrop of deteriorating medical services provided to them.

Eyewitnesses told Darfur Now that the protesters blocked major roads in the city and set tires on fire. They indicated that among the wounded were amputees of both the upper and lower limbs.

Medical sources revealed that Nyala Teaching, Turkish, and Police hospitals, in addition to the militia’s medical unit, were overcrowded with a large number of wounded from operations, amid a sharp decline in the level of medical services.

According to sources, the wounded were previously transported from El-Fashir and the fighting fronts in Kordofan, in addition to those wounded in recent airstrikes targeting militia training camps in Nyala, which resulted in hundreds of deaths and injuries among its ranks.

In the same context, other medical sources told Darfur Now that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia has resorted to converting some houses east of Nyala Market into field clinics to treat its wounded, and has also reopened a number of closed private clinics for this purpose.
