Interview: Mohamed Al-Fatih
The Deputy Chairman of the National Umma Party (NUP), Lt. Gen. Siddig Mohamed Ismail, has called for a dialogue and communication with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to stop the war. While he said that the UAE wants to buy Sudan, he hinted at the possibility of opening the door for the UAE to invest in Sudan in (the best way). He said: (Anyone who wants our resources must come to us in the best way and we will agree with him). He continued (Whoever comes to us in the harshest way, we will fight him until the Day of Judgment).
Lt. Gen. Ismail challenged, in an interview with (Sudanese Echoes), the recent decisions issued by the ousted head of the National Umma Party, Burmah Nassir, describing them as invalid and illegitimate decisions.
The Deputy Head of the National Umma Party downplayed the bias of NUP leaderships towards Burmah Nassir, stressing that they have no influence.
Lt. Gen. Ismail criticized the acquiescence of the former assistant to the NUP Head, Siddig Al-Mahdi, to the Sudanese Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces (Tagadum) and currently to the Civil Democratic Alliance of Revolutionary Forces (Sumoud), indicating that the party rejected any relationship with “Tagadum”.
In a related context, the NUP Deputy-Head attributed the party’s failure to hold the general conference to funding, revealing that holding the general conference requires significant funding, arrangements, and activity on the ground that lasts for eight months, as well as a central body to arrange for its holding. He continued, “We were looking for funding, and during that time, this apocalypse happened.”
Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. Ismail warned against excluding Islamists. He revealed that Al-Imam Al-Sadig Al-Mahdi, before his death, issued the new social contract, in which he called for not excluding anyone except those convicted of a crime before the courts, pointing out that a political crime must be held accountable judicially or publicly, warning against imposing any punishment on political forces. “Any forces that have taken any action will be left to be held accountable by the judiciary or the court of the masses.” He added.
