New Investment Law in Sudan

The Government of Sudan revealed its amendment to the Investment Law and Regulations for the year 2021, stressing that the new law carries several good tidings for investors.

Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jabir, confirmed his support and sponsorship of the outcomes of the first Investment and Industry Forum in the Northern State, announcing the holding of the second forum in the Nile River next January.

During the opening session of the forum, Jabir instructed the Ministries of Transport, Industry, Communications and Infrastructure to operate domestic flights from Portsudan Airport to Dongola Airport and connect the fiber network so that telecommunications companies can improve the quality of their services, in addition to maintaining the national road between Portsudan and the Northern State.

Lieutenant General Jabir called for the necessity of attaching industrial zones to residential cities and establishing an industrial consulting center in Dongola, announcing his sponsorship of the establishment of a vocational and technical training institute through the Ministry of Labor to qualify cadres and hatch skilled workers. He also directed the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to transfer one of the research centers to the Northern State to work on transferring technology and supporting farmers.

Lieutenant General Jabir pointed out that the government has worked to provide various facilities for the industrial sector, in addition to approving the Industry Law, which facilitates investment procedures in industry for foreign and national investors in order to cover the needs of the local market with incentives that encourage increasing the country’s industrial exports. He added that the government is working hard to complete the National Investment Authority, which is being discussed between the Ministry of Investment and the Council of Ministers, in addition to the National Investment Law, which will be published soon in the Official Gazette, so that it will be a protector and supporter of all investors and manufacturers who wish to work in Sudan.
