New Egyptian Mediation Between Sudan and Chad

Egyptian diplomatic sources have disclosed that the Egyptian government is playing a significant diplomatic role in bringing the views of Sudan and Chad closer.

The sources, according to Al-Shorouk, said that the efforts are being led by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Ati, which he began during his recent visit to Chad last week, prior to the outset of his tour of West African countries.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister and his Chadian counterpart, Abdallah Sabir, exchanged views on the war in Sudan and its repercussions.

The Chadian Foreign Ministry stated that the bilateral talks underscored the need to reach a rapid solution to the war in Sudan, given its repercussions for both countries.

The Chadian Foreign Minister affirmed that his country was committed to supporting any initiative aimed at bringing peace to Sudan.
