Minawi: We Broke the Bones of Hemeidti’s Militia… The Road to El-Fasher Is Passable

The General Supervisor of the Joint Force and Governor of Darfur Region, Minni Arko Minawi, has said that the battles witnessed in and around Al-Khuwai area in West Kordofan State “completely eliminated the key Rapid Support mobile forces.”
Minawi revealed to Sudan Tribune details of Al-Khuwai battles, which have been ongoing for two days.
He explained that the battle is larger than recapturing Al-Khuwai, saying, “Al-Khuwai is just a battlefield.”
Minawi added that the militia’s goal is not simply to recapture Al-Khuwai, but to crush the movements heading to Darfur. He added, “But what happened is that we broke their bones.”
The militia took control of the cities of Al-Nuhud and Al-Khuwai in West Kordofan earlier this month, before the army and the joint force recaptured Al-Khuwai last Sunday.
However, the Rapid Support Forces recaptured it, and the army and the joint force regained control of it on Tuesday after fierce battles. Areas from Al-Obeid to the outskirts of Al-Nuhud are witnessing fierce battles between the army and its allies on one side and the Rapid Support Forces militia on the other.
Minawi said that the road towards El-Fashir from Kordofan is now passable. He continued, “According to our information, Abdel-Rahim Dagalo is now seeking to regroup the remnants of his forces through ongoing mobilization operations since yesterday.” He stressed that the situation on the ground for the Joint Forces and the army is reassuring.
