Militia collapses and withdraws from Zamzam Camp

Informed field sources have disclosed that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia withdrew from the Zamzam camp, southwest of El-Fashir. This occurred following direct shelling by Sudanese army units targeting militia positions inside the camp, resulting in casualties and equipment losses.

According to the sources, the militia also withdrew from a number of military bases it had established around El-Fashir, in an attempt to reposition itself following the intense attack launched by the armed forces over the past few hours, which sparked confusion among its ranks.

Military reports indicated that the army succeeded in destroying a number of armored vehicles belonging to the militia inside the Zamzam camp, in addition to ammunition and heavy weapons stores that were being prepared for use in an imminent attack on the city. This forced the militia to carry out a forced withdrawal to preserve its remaining forces.

The militia’s sudden withdrawal from its positions reflects strategic confusion among its field command. They failed to counter the surprise attack and were unable to hold onto any of the control points they had built around El-Fashir over the past weeks, reflecting a significant decline in their ability to withstand.

Sudanese army units quickly moved toward Zamzam camp to secure it and prevent any militia attempt to retake it. Engineering teams also began combing the area for mines and explosive devices that the militia may have planted during their hasty withdrawal.
