Measles infection rates rise in Sudan, while cholera and dengue fever rates decline.

 

The Emergency Operations Center meeting revealed a decline in cholera and dengue fever infections in all reporting states except Khartoum. Meanwhile, measles infections increased, with (138) cases recorded in (3) states (North Darfur among displaced persons -IDPs- in Tawila Locality, River Nile, and White Nile) during the 18th week (May 3-9).

 

 

The meeting reviewed the 2025 fall season preparedness reports, noting that teams have been dispatched to several states to assess preparations for the season.

 

 

 

The Environmental Health and Food Control Department’s report noted activities including the reading of (2,164) sources within the network, out of a target of 2,543 sources, representing 85% of the total from the states of Al-Gezira, Sennar, Al-Gadarif, White Nile, Kassala, and Khartoum, of which 279 readings were compliant and 68 were non-compliant.

 

 

 

In the food sector, 10,792 stores were inspected, out of a target of 14,199, representing 75% of the total.

 

 

 

The health promotion report noted a range of activities implemented, including home visits, community dialogues, media and social media messaging, group and individual counseling, and discussion groups.

 

 

 

The quarantine report announced the arrival of 7,632 individuals and the departure of 6,013, in addition to 11,937 individuals voluntarily returned from Egypt via the Ashkit and Arqin crossings, while 835 individuals visited emergency clinics.

 

 

It also noted that medical examinations were conducted in several governorates as part of the Hajj 1446 activities.
