Massive Corruption Exposed in Sudan’s Mining Sector

Audit reveals SDG 440 billion disbursed without justification in state-owned mineral company

A recent report issued by Sudan’s National Audit Chamber has revealed significant financial and administrative violations within the Sudanese Company for Mineral Resources Ltd., following a review of the company’s 2024 accounts.

According to the report, an enormous sum estimated at around SDG 440 billion was disbursed without any supporting documents or approved projects to justify the expenditure. The Audit Chamber described this as a blatant violation of the established financial and administrative regulations.

The report highlighted the severity of these irregularities, which threaten the principles of transparency and governance in one of Sudan’s key state-owned companies responsible for managing the mining and mineral resources sector. It called for urgent measures to address these imbalances and hold the responsible parties accountable, according to the Sudanese news outlet Al-Mashhad.
