Massacre East of Al-Dalang: Al-Hilu Forces and Al-Dagalo Militia Kill Dozens of Civilians

More than 50 defenceless civilians were killed, with dozens injured or missing, in a devastating attack on the villages of Fagousa and Hajar Al-Jawad, east of Al-Dalang in South Kordofan.

The assault was reportedly carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia with the backing of elements affiliated with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N), led by Abdel Aziz Al-Hilu.

The Democratic Alliance for Social Justice condemned the incident in a strongly worded statement, describing it as a grave crime and a deliberate, systematic targeting of civilians in violation of international humanitarian law, warranting international accountability.

The alliance pointed to a field-level coordination between the militia and SPLM-N elements under the so-called “Ta’asis” project, warning of a worsening humanitarian situation across Kordofan and Darfur.

Preliminary victim lists from Fagousa village include Salah Ibrahim Nawai, Siyasi Ibrahim Nawai, Abdul-Rasoul Tarzan, Ahmed Al-Faki Gadi, Aboud Darjoul, Aboud Idris Moya, Badr Suleiman, Walid Mohamed Sheikan, Bashir Jubara, and Jumaa Kadugli. Victims from Hajar Al-Jawad include Yousif Mudir, Ameera Mohamed Ambasha, Osman Hussein, Abdullah Hamdeen Kajour, Suleiman Jamal, Ali Mansour, Aboud Al-Nayir, and Mousa Abdelkarim.

Democratic Bloc leader Mubarak Ardol described the massacre as heinous, asserting that targeting civilians in their villages constitutes a criminal pattern that will not go unpunished. He affirmed that accountability will extend to all those involved, whether directly or through political or military support.

Political forces called on the state and international organizations to fulfill their constitutional and moral responsibilities to protect civilians and ensure the delivery of urgent humanitarian assistance to affected areas, declaring full solidarity with the people of the Nuba Mountains in the face of ongoing violations.
