Judicial authorities in Gezira State have begun exhuming graves inside Gezira University, containing the bodies of citizens killed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), including children.

The Gezira University administration filed a lawsuit with the Central Police Station in Wad Madani regarding the presence of a cemetery on campus.

A committee has also been formed to follow up on the lawsuit and notify the competent authorities.

The Public Prosecutor at the Central Police Station, Omar Youssef Adlan, said in a press statement, that they “have begun exhuming 26 graves inside the Neshaishiba Campus at Gezira University.”

He explained that the graves contain the bodies of people killed by the militia, others whose families were forced to bury them outside the Wad Madani cemetery after the forces prevented them from doing so, in addition to the bodies of militia members and Christians whose remains will be transferred to their own cemeteries.

During their control of Al-Gezira State, militia soldiers committed numerous brutal violations, including mass murder, killing, forced displacement, sexual violence, kidnapping, humiliation, and ransacking.

The prosecutor indicated that available information confirms that some of the graves belonged to minors.
