Libyan Military Movements Near the Sudanese Border

The General Command of the Libyan Armed Forces announced that Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, paid a visit to Al-Sarah Military Base in southern Libya, near the borders with Sudan and Chad.

In a press statement, the command said that during the visit, Haftar inspected operations within the base and reviewed coordination mechanisms with other military units, emphasizing the importance of discipline and the need to maintain a high level of readiness to carry out assigned missions efficiently.

It is noteworthy that Saddam Haftar’s arrival in southern Libya — including his tours of Al-Kufra and Al-Sarah Base — coincided with the arrival of several cargo flights operated by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) military transport aircraft coming from the UAE and Bosaso, Somalia, to airports and bases in eastern and southeastern Libya.

International organizations and global media outlets have accused the government in eastern Libya, led by Khalifa Haftar, of providing logistical support to the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which have committed atrocities and crimes against Sudanese civilians in several states, with assistance from the UAE government.
