Journalists’ Union Moves Against Impostors, Activates Legal Measures
The General Union of Sudanese Journalists has announced a package of strict legal and administrative measures to confront what it described as a “shameful decline” in media discourse.
In a statement, the union said it had begun activating accountability provisions under the 2009 Press and Publications Act to address violations, including defamatory rhetoric and attacks on personal integrity.
The union stressed that penalties would be deterrent, including revocation of membership, permanent removal from the press register, and legal prosecution before competent courts on charges of impersonation.
