IOM: More than 14 million people displaced by war in Sudan

The Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Amy Pope, said on Tuesday, that there are more than 14 million people displaced by war in Sudan, either internally or across borders.

The IOM Director General added to reporters: “11 million people are internally displaced within the country, and 3.1 million people are those who have crossed the border. So the number of displaced people now is estimated at more than 14 million people.”

Pope later clarified that the total figure includes some people who were displaced before the civil war began in April 2023.
