Heavy Clashes Erupt Between Hemeidti Militia and Al-Hilu Forces in South Kordofan South

Field sources reported the outbreak of fierce clashes between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemeidti), and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N), Al-Hilu faction, in the Um Haytan area, southwest of Habila.

The sources said, according to Al-Unwan 24, that the fighting resulted in killed and wounded on both sides, without providing an exact toll.

Tensions between the RSF militia and the Al-Hilu-aligned SPLM-N forces escalated following the lifting of the siege on Al-Dalang by the Sudanese Armed Forces, with each side accusing the other of dereliction and failure to uphold commitments.

The sources added that the militia has committed serious violations against the Nuba ethnic group in the area since its entry, allegedly with the approval of the SPLM-N commander Abdulaziz Al-Hilu.

They noted that previous direct confrontations between the two sides had already resulted in a large number of fatalities, triggered by disputes linked to theft of citizens’ livestock.
