Head of the Investigation Committee into the Dispersal of the General Command Sit-in: We did not find any “evidence” throughout the committee’s work for 3 years

Legal Expert and Head of the Investigation Committee into the Dispersal of the General Command Sit-in, Nabil Adeeb, affirmed that the committee’s work has been suspended since April 15, 2023 – the date the war eruption. Adeeb revealed that a Ministry of Justice official, who was a member of the committee, had resigned from the committee due to the lack of an entity to protect the investigation committee.
Adeeb’s Reservation
In an interview with Sudanese Echoes, Adeeb refused to talk about the issue of their collection of evidence in the case of the dispersal of the sit-in, saying, “I do not talk about this issue in the media.” He revealed that he had previously reserved the chairmanship of the committee because he is a lawyer, as he refuses for a lawyer to assume the presidency of investigation committees because lawyers are present in the market and may be subject to temptations.
Work without Salaries
He denied that they received salaries throughout their work in the committee, adding that he does not receive money when he handles public rights cases. Adeeb stated that the committee did not have a fixed headquarters throughout its work, revealing that they vacated a site that they were using in Kafouri neighborhood as a headquarters when a government unit tried to settle on a floor adjacent to the committee’s work, but he refused the presence of the government unit for the possibility that another unit would come to eavesdrop. He continued: “We collected our papers, vacated the premises and did not work again.”
We did not Find Evidence
Regarding the authority to which he is supposed to submit his final report, he said that the report is submitted to the Prime Minister upon the completion of the investigation, either to file a criminal charge or a decision that there is no sufficient evidence.
Nabil unveiled that the committee throughout its work for three years did not find sufficient evidence to be transferred to the court, because the court will dismiss the case.
Threats and Pressures
Nabil Adeeb rejected the accusations directed at him and the investigation committee that their work buried the investigation and “killed it”He said that this does not apply to criminal investigation committees. “This is the talk of disrespectful people.” Adeeb replied. Adeeb denied that the committee was subjected to pressure or insinuations, stressing that no one could pressure them. He threatened to leave the committee whenever he felt pressure. He revealed that the committee investigated President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, and his deputy at the time, Hemeidti, and the TSC member, General Shams El-Din Kabashi, and all members of the Military Council. He continued: “None of them refused to answer the committee’s question, and no one was able to exert any pressure on us.”
