Government Suspends “Sudania 24” Channel and Freezes Correspondents’ Licenses
The Sudanese Ministry of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism announced a set of stringent legal and administrative measures against “Sudania 24” TV channel, including the immediate suspension of its activities and the withdrawal of its operating licenses, as well as the freezing of its correspondents’ permits inside the country.
In a press statement, the ministry stated that the decisions followed the monitoring of professional violations in the channel’s media coverage related to Dalgo Locality in the Northern State. It stressed that the channel broadcasts from abroad and currently does not hold a renewed authorization to operate within Sudan.
The ministry further clarified that the government holds no ownership stake in the channel and that its content does not reflect the official position of the state.
The measures include the termination of any unlicensed broadcasting or media activity by the channel inside the Sudanese territories, the cancellation of all previous work licenses, and the suspension of its correspondents’ permits pending the regularization of its legal status and the submission of formal commitments not to repeat such violations.
