Government of Sudan Condemns Massacres in El-Fashir in Official Statement

The Government of Sudan strongly condemns the horrific terrorist crimes being committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in the city of El-Fashir, the capital of North Darfur State, where they have carried out — and continue to carry out — racially motivated killings and systematic terror against unarmed civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, in shocking scenes documented by the perpetrators themselves with pride and audacity, revealing their criminal nature rooted in bloodshed and terrorism.

The Dagalo terrorist militia planned this genocide by besieging El-Fashir and starving its population for two and a half years, culminating today in a horrifying massacre added to the militia’s dark record of atrocities and violations stretching from the city of Al-Geneina to the villages and rural areas of Al-Gezira State.

The terrorist militia’s war against the Sudanese citizen has constituted a historical precedent in the annals of global genocide, making it a symbol of genocide and ethnic cleansing against innocent civilians. Wherever the militia advances, killing and terror follow.

The Government of Sudan has repeatedly warned the international community about the dangers of silence and inaction, and called for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2736 (2024). However, the absence of international political will empowered the terrorist militia and granted it the green light to defy international laws and divine religions, continuing to take lives, destroy cities, and violate the honor of the innocent.

The politicization of the crisis and the alignment of some countries with their own political and economic interests — instead of taking a moral and humanitarian stand — directly contributed to the El-Fashir massacre, leaving its population victims of the international community’s failure, a failure that looks upon the people of Sudan with a double standard far removed from the international justice and human rights principles it claims.

The Government and people of Sudan mourn the victims of the El-Fashir massacre and reaffirm — in line with the address delivered yesterday, Tuesday, by His Excellency President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces — that the Sudanese Armed Forces and all regular forces in all their formations, backed by the people, will continue to fulfill their constitutional duty to protect their citizens and defend the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the country. They will use all legitimate means to deter this terrorist militia, restore security and stability, and achieve a just and lasting peace that meets the aspirations of the Sudanese people across the nation.
