Government: Currency replacement aims to bring in 200 trillion pounds to banks

 

Government sources revealed that currency replacement aims to bring in about 200 trillion pounds outside the banking sector.

 

Currency exchange operations will begin today, Tuesday, in 7 Sudanese states. The government has limited the exchange to bank deposits, with a daily withdrawal ceiling of 200,000 pounds per day.

For his part, economic expert Wael Fahmy told (Sudan Tribune) that the monetary base in the Sudanese economy continues to grow and has reached about 900 trillion pounds by 2022, while all that circulated in the banking sector amounts to about 90 trillion pounds, or only 10%.He expected that the monetary base has doubled significantly since that period.
