Good News for Owners of Looted Vehicles… Electronic Platform Launched to Recover Cars in Khartoum Free of Charge
The Committee for the Removal and Collection of War-Damaged Vehicles in Khartoum State has announced the launch of an online service to identify missing vehicles through a Facebook-based platform named “Stolen Vehicles,” which provides a tool for tracking looted vehicles belonging to individuals as well as public and private institutions, and returning them free of charge upon verification of ownership.
A joint coordination meeting between Khartoum Locality and the Committee for the Removal and Collection of Damaged Vehicles, held on Monday and chaired by the Executive Director of the locality, Abdel Moneim Al-Bashir, revealed that more than 8,000 damaged vehicles have been collected across Khartoum State and impounded at 38 sites. The chassis numbers of each vehicle have been individually recorded and digitised in preparation for uploading to the committee’s electronic “stolen vehicles” platform to complete handover procedures to rightful owners.
The committee also said it has previously been conducting operations to remove and collect vehicles from major roads, strategic areas, and around government premises following the liberation of Khartoum. It added that the next phase will extend operations to markets, residential neighbourhoods, and public squares, confirming its readiness to receive reports on the locations of damaged vehicles from all authorities and citizens in preparation for their removal.
