Gebreil Ibrahim: Why does America insist on using “stick” and not “carrot” with Sudan?

Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Head of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), renewed JEM rejection of the US Treasury Department’s sanctions imposed on President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Commander-in-Chief of the People’s Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan.

He stressed that they will not change the position of the Sudanese people, or their forces, towards the war of dignity.

Dr. Gebreil stated, in a tweet on his account on the (X) platform, that the US sanctions imposed on the Sudanese people and their leaders since 1958 have not forced anyone to obey its order, enquiring, “Why does America insist on using the stick without the carrot with Sudan?”
