Gang Pillaging Mining Companies Arrested in Sudan

A team from the General Directorate for Mining Security managed to put an end to a criminal network of seven individuals who had been ransacking mining company sites.

According to the police press office, the force arrested the suspects following a well-planned ambush while they were attempting to plunder a company operating in the Haya Locality in the Red Sea. They were in possession of a 2016 Toyota Double Cab. During initial investigations, the suspects admitted their involvement in looting several mining company sites in River Nile and Red Sea states.

The Director of the General Directorate for Mining Security, Major General (Police) Sir-al-Khatim Musa Hamza, confirmed that his directorate had developed a comprehensive plan to eliminate all forms of illegal encroachment on mining sites, given their threat to mining activity and the decline in its contribution to the gross domestic product.
