First Gulf Airline Lands at Port Sudan Airport

On Tuesday, an Oman-based flight from Salam Air landed at Port Sudan Airport, marking the first Gulf carrier to resume flights to Sudan after months of suspension.

Several foreign airlines are planning to resume operations to Sudan soon, following improvements in security conditions in several Sudanese cities.

Regional and international airlines had suspended flights to Sudan’s airspace since the outbreak of war in mid-April 2023 and the closure of Khartoum Airport. Some carriers have now resumed operations via Port Sudan Airport in eastern Sudan, after Sudan Airports Company was forced to transfer air traffic there since the conflict began.
