Female Child Killed, Another Injured by Stray Bullet Inside School in Nyala

The child Marwa Mohamed Suleiman Taj-Eddin, aged 7, was killed on Sunday morning, and her classmate, Mayada Hamid Musa Hassan (12), was injured inside Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Basic School at Otash Camp for displaced persons (IDPs) in South Darfur State.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred as a result of a stray bullet fired from a “Doshka” weapon during heavy gunfire that took place in the city of Nyala earlier in the day.

The incident caused grief and panic among the school’s pupils and camp residents, while no official statements have yet been issued regarding the incident or the party responsible for the shooting.
