Expected Dismissals of Several Ministers in Sudanese Government

President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Abdel-Fattah al-Burhan, has dismissed the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs and Endowments, Ali Youssef and Omar Bakhit, amid reports that the list of dismissals includes five other ministers, in preparation for the formation of a new government.
Ali Youssef and Omar Bakhit were appointed to their positions on November 3, as part of a limited cabinet reshuffle that also included the Ministers of Information and Trade.
The dismissed ministers, Ali Youssef and Omar Bakhit, confirmed the dismissal in posts on social media, which have not yet been officially announced.
Ali Youssef said: “I step down today satisfied with what I have done for my beloved country. I will remain a loyal soldier to my nation. I extend my deep gratitude and appreciation to the fellow ministers and officials with whom I was assigned, and with whom we shared a long history of cooperation, consultation, and support.”
He noted that he assumed the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs amid mounting challenges. “I succeeded, I came close, and I exerted my utmost effort. I received full cooperation from the ministry’s staff, who were dedicated, generous, and selfless.”
For his part, Omar Bakhit reported in a post on his account that he had received the decision to dismiss him from his position as Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments.
He expressed his appreciation to the country’s leadership for their confidence in the assignment and for the dismissal.
Sources told Sudan Tribune that the dismissal of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Endowments will be followed by the dismissals of other ministers, in preparation for the announcement of a new government, following the previous amendments to the Constitutional Document.
