Erdogan offers Al-Burhan to engage in mediation to settle Sudan-UAE differences
The Turkish presidency said that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan informed President of the Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, in a phone call that Ankara is ready to mediate to resolve differences between the Sudanese government and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and work to end the war between the Sudanese forces, amidst a welcome from the Sudanese army commander.
The Turkish presidency said, in a statement, that Erdogan touched on with Al-Burhan, in the phone call, Turkish-Sudanese relations in addition to regional and global issues, as the Turkish president suggested that Ankara intervene to resolve differences between Sudan and the UAE, as it mediated a dispute between Somalia and Ethiopia, according to what the Turkish presidency said without going into details.
In turn, a statement by the Transitional Sovereignty Council stated, “President Erdogan expressed his country’s readiness to mediate between Sudan and the United Arab Emirates to establish security and peace in the country,” stressing that Al-Burhan welcomed “any Turkish role that contributes to discontinuing the war caused by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, calling for strengthening Turkish investments in various fields.”
