The Head of Egyptian General Intelligence, Major General Hassan Rashad, met with US President Donald Trump’s Senior Advisor for Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs, Massad Boulos, according to Extra News.

The meeting witnessed extensive discussions on pressing African issues, top of which the crisis in Libya and the ongoing escalation in the capital, Tripoli.

The meeting addressed mechanisms for de-escalating the military situation in Libya and explored ways to restore security balance in light of the escalating tensions and armed conflicts between various militias.

Meanwhile, according to “Sudan Pulse,” the Sudanese issue occupied a significant portion of the discussion. The two sides reviewed developments in Sudan and the outcome of the ongoing crisis since the outbreak of the war between the army and the militias.

During the meeting, the need to push for a comprehensive political solution that achieves peace and stability in Sudan was underscored, particularly in light of the worsening humanitarian crisis and the faltering regional and international mediation efforts.

Trump’s senior advisor, Massad Boulos, expressed great interest in the developments in Sudan and Libya and emphasized the importance of coordination with Egypt, a pivotal player in the region, to enhance the chances of reaching peaceful solutions that safeguard the stability of peoples and preserve the unity of states.
