Egypt warns against interference in Sudan’s internal affairs

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed a set of guiding principles for Egypt’s foreign policy toward all issues, including the situation in Sudan, stressing that there is no military solution to the crisis and that preserving the Sudanese national state is essential.
Abdelatty participated on Sunday as a speaker in a session titled “Restoring Hope: Aligning Efforts to Achieve Peace and Development in Sudan”, during the fifth edition of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development.
The session was attended by Sudan’s Foreign Minister Mohi-Eddin Salim, the EU Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Annette Weber, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Sudan Ramtane Lamamra, the High Representative of the “Silencing the Guns” Initiative Mohamed Ibn Chambas, and the Chairperson of the AU High-Level Panel on Sudan.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed the need to refrain from interfering in Sudan’s internal affairs, to respect its full sovereignty, and to uphold the principle of “one state, one authority, and one army.”
He also emphasized the importance of reaching a humanitarian truce as a first step toward a permanent ceasefire, underscoring that the solution must come from the Sudanese themselves within the framework of an inclusive political process that reflects national ownership of the crisis and its resolution path.
