Earthquake Hits Tokar
The Seismology Center reported an earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale early Wednesday, December 24, at 04:55 a.m. (GMT+3), located 189 kilometers northeast of the city of Tokar in Red Sea State.
According to the Center, the tremor was recorded in the Red Sea, 126 kilometers from the Saudi coastline. The earthquake’s depth has not been precisely determined but is believed to have been shallow, which explains why residents did not feel it and no impact reports have been received.
This tremor is part of the recurring seismic activity in the Red Sea region, which sits on an active geological fault, making it prone to earthquakes of varying intensity from time to time.
