Dozens of Bodies Piled Up in Homes as Number of Missing Persons Rises in Bara
The Sudan Doctors’ Network has reported that dozens of bodies are piled up inside homes in the city of Bara, North Darfur State, while the militia has prevented families of the victims from approaching.
The Network confirmed that the number of missing persons is increasing daily amid a complete communication blackout and the absence of any effective medical or humanitarian presence in the city.
It expressed deep concern over what it described as horrific crimes committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against unarmed civilians in Bara, calling the situation “a scene that embodies the ugliest forms of human rights violations and systematic killings.”
Field reports confirmed that dozens of bodies remain inside homes after the RSF prevented the families of victims from burying them.
According to the Sudan Doctors’ Network, “the dead remain trapped in their homes, while the living are surrounded by fear, hunger, and thirst.”
The Network also revealed that waves of mass displacement continue from Bara under extremely harsh conditions, as civilians flee on foot into the unknown — without food, medicine, or shelter. Meanwhile, health services have completely collapsed, and diseases and malnutrition are spreading among children, women, and the elderly.
The Sudan Doctors’ Network called on the United Nations, humanitarian and medical organizations, and the international community at large to take immediate and serious action to stop these violations, open safe corridors for civilians, and enable families to bury their dead with dignity.
It concluded: “What is happening in Bara is a crime against humanity by all standards, and the continued international silence amounts to a shameful act of complicity.”
