Port Sudan – Sudanese Echoes
President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, affirmed the deep-rooted and historic ties between Sudan and Egypt, noting the eternal bonds that unite the two brotherly peoples.
This came during his meeting today, Tuesday, in Port Sudan with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ambassador Badr Abdelatty, in the presence of Foreign Minister Ambassador Mohieddin Salim, Sudan’s Ambassador to Egypt General Imad-Eddin Adawi, and Egypt’s Ambassador to Sudan Hani Salah, who conveyed the greetings of President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi.
Al-Burhan expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Egyptian government and people for their steadfast support for Sudan in all regional and international forums, and for their keenness on Sudan’s safety, stability, and sovereignty. He underlined the shared political will of both countries to strengthen cooperation in all fields.
For his part, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said he delivered to President Al-Burhan a message of solidarity and support from his brother, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, reaffirming the deep fraternal relations between the two nations. He reiterated Egypt’s principled stance in support of Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and the preservation of its national resources.
He added that the meeting discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance and develop cooperation in the political, economic, and trade fields, as well as the shared destiny linking both nations—particularly in the area of water security, given that Sudan and Egypt are both Nile downstream countries.
Ambassador Abdelatty pointed out the alignment of both countries’ positions on the issue of water security, describing it as an existential matter for their peoples.
He further noted that he had listened to a detailed briefing from TSC President on the security and humanitarian situation on the ground, stressing Egypt’s firm support for Sudan and its national institutions, including the Armed Forces.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister expressed his wishes for lasting peace and stability for the Sudanese people, noting that this was his fourth visit to Sudan since assuming office—a reflection of the depth and importance of Sudanese-Egyptian relations.
He affirmed that President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi is closely following the Sudan file to ensure the interests of the peoples of the Nile Valley.
