Death of Native Administrative Leader and Nine Janjaweed Members in Airstrike on Heglig Oil Area

At least ten people, including six Rapid Support Forces (RSF) soldiers and a native administration leader (“Omda”), were killed on Tuesday in an airstrike carried out by a drone believed to belong to the Sudanese army on the Heglig area in West Kordofan.

The rebel RSF militia had previously seized the Heglig oil area and the headquarters of the 90th Brigade of the 22nd Division in Babanusa, following the army’s withdrawal to South Sudan.

Sources told Darfur24 that the drone strike targeted Heglig and its oil fields, resulting in the deaths of several militia members. The sources also noted that the civilian casualties included Omda (mayor) Hamdan Jar Al-Nabi, one of the native administration leaders in West Kordofan.
