Crew Killed in Military Cargo Plane Crash in Eastern Sudan
According to two military sources in Sudan, a military cargo plane crashed on Tuesday while attempting to land at an airbase in the eastern part of the country, killing all crew members on board.
A military source, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, stated that “a technical malfunction caused the crash of a military cargo plane of the Ilyushin type while attempting to land at Dignah Air Base” in Port Sudan.
Another military source confirmed that “all crew members of the Ilyushin 76 aircraft were killed.”
The Sudanese army has not issued an official statement regarding the incident, and the exact number of personnel aboard the military plane remains unknown.
