Community Rescue Operation Storms RSF Detention Center in Nyala, Frees Detainees
A community rescue operation in Nyala stormed a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) detention facility in the heart of the city, freeing several detainees, local sources reported.
A community leader told Darfur 24 that RSF intelligence forces had arrested one of their relatives, Salah Abkar, along with two others, last Thursday. He described the arrests as humiliating and likened them to a kidnapping.
Upon learning the location of the detainees, the community group quickly mobilized in a rescue operation, storming the RSF facility with weapons and freeing their relatives along with other detainees held at the centre.
The report noted that RSF units had previously attempted a similar operation in June of last year, when they stormed Koriya Prison to free their commander, but were repelled by prison guards.
